Tumbling

Vibra Finish Ltd. offers innovative tumbling options that can help you achieve the best surface possible for your parts. A product’s surface finish can have a major impact on how it functions. Burrs and other imperfections can weaken your part and make it less effective in everyday use. But finishing a product by hand is expensive and time consuming, requiring unnecessary time and labour. Our finishing options remove those negative components, strengthening your products in less time and for less money.

Two tumbling options

We have a range of tumbling methods that can help you achieve the perfect finish for your product. Each offer unique benefits for your specific part.

One of the procedures that we can perform is vibratory tumbling. This involves using media within a vibratory tumbler to make careful abrasive contact with your parts. Vibratory finishing can lead to a wide range of surface options, depending upon the media you choose. Our plastic media generally works best for polishing applications on die castings, as well as soft metals, since it is too soft to cause surface damage. Ceramic media is heavier and can therefore get rid of heavy flashes and burrs more effectively. It can also be used to prepare a product prior to a surface smoothing with a plastic media.

We can also perform barrel tumbling operations, which uses a rotating barrel to move parts, media and finishing compounds against each other within a confined space. To remove excess material on parts, we often add water to the mixture, creating a wet tumbling application. We can also perform dry tumbling for just about any application you require.

Useful in many industries

Our tumbling procedures are generally used to remove excess material, surface imperfections such as burrs and heavy flashes and more, as well as to improve the aesthetic look of your product through procedures such as polishing. It can be used on parts in a variety of industries, such as automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and more.

Quality commitment

We’re certified as an ISO-9001 business. As a result, we work to achieve a high standard of quality in each product we treat.
