Tubular Cam Locks

Cam locks make up a healthy majority of our product portfolio at Capitol Industries Inc. – more than 80 per cent. These popular locking solutions come in a variety of designs and models for industrial use, including a range of tubular cam locks. We offer these special locking systems in five different barrel lengths, more than a dozen sizes of cam inset/offset and of cam lengths, and two kinds of keying.

Sometimes referred to as radial locks or circle pin tumblers, tubular locks are frequently used on commercial products that are left unattended for lengthy periods, like vending machines, laundry machines, electronic boxes and panels, ATMs, glass display cabinets in stores, or bicycle locks. They are distinguished in one sense by the round shape of the keyholes. These circular keyways have basic ring-shaped holes with solid metal cylinders in the middle, with ring gaps containing six to eight pins. While these locks use the basic pin tumbler system, the key pins are pushed in horizontally, as opposed to standard locks in which key pins move vertically.

Capitol tubular cam locks have barrel lengths of 11, 13, 18, 25, or 30 millimetres. Cam lengths range from ¾ of an inch to two and three-eighths inches, while cam inset/offset can be straight or can range from 1/16 to ½ an inch, positive or negative. Our tubular locks can be keyed alike or keyed different. Variations in our portfolio with tubular keys include switch locks, T-handle inner core locks, and cam locks with radial pin tumblers. We also supply tubular-cam-lock kits, each of which contains one lock, two keys, and several components and accessories: cams, stop washers, wood washer, ring, hex nut, and hex nut for shell. In addition, our specialty lock assortment kit includes three tubular cam locks.

As with all of our products, we manufacture tubular cam locks in a vertically integrated operation that starts with design and proceeds to tool production, secondary machining, finishing, and assembly, all at the same ISO 9001-2015-certified Montreal plant.
