T-handles

Our unsurpassed inventory of industrial solutions at Capitol Industries Inc. spans an impressive range of specialty locks, like several models of T-handles. These are among the most commonly used handles for keeping doors and lids secured today, including those in workplace environments. Some people use them on truck service body applications, as well as sheet-metal enclosures, compartment locks, and multi-point utility boxes. The name comes from the unique “T” shape of each lock.

We manufacture and carry three main series of these units among our specialty locks: the 8839, KLW, and KLV series. The 8839 model is a spring-loaded, pop-out lock that has become a standard in the vending industry. It accepts a range of locking inserts, including those that comply with NAMA dimensional standards. The handle rotates 90 or 180 degrees when unlocked, and the user can re-position the stop plate to enable left or right rotation. This lock is available in ¼– or ½-turn operation.

The KLW series consists of spring-loaded, pop-out T-handles that also accept a broad spectrum of locking inserts, such as ones that meet the NAMA standards. This series is available with a wide variety of locking studs to work with many different industrial applications. When the user unlocks one of these devices, the freewheeling handle can rotate a full 360 degrees around.

Meanwhile, the KLV series offers a range of spring-loaded, pop-out T-handles with rear-mounted flanges and body assembly, which boosts resistance to tampering and vandalism. Like the previous two series, this series can accept a variety of locking inserts, including those that meet the NAMA requirements. For this series, screw studs and cams are available, provided that the customer specifies the desired length.

Capitol also offers three designs of T-handle inner core locks – seven-pin zinc, seven-pin brass, and eight-pin Bullet “Octagon”. Keyed alike and keyed different are available; each lock has up to 60,000 combinations and a 1137S steel tubular key (blank). Numbering is key blank standard, while the finish is chrome.

We encourage customers to contact our Montreal office to learn more about our T-handles and other innovative solutions.
