Sulphur Recovery Unit Monitors

This includes the new-generation E²T Pulsar 4 series, designed for the monitoring of Sulphur Recovery Units (SRUs).

Effective operation of an SRU requires measurement and control of a complex series of processes. It is especially crucial to control the reaction-furnace temperature, to prevent damage to the refractory at high temperatures and ammonium salt from plugging the converters at low temperatures. Installations that use the reaction furnace to destroy ammonia, hydrocarbons, and other waste gases have to maintain an adequate temperature to ensure the incineration. Advanced processes, such as oxygen enrichment, need even higher temperatures and require close monitoring. The MIKRON E²T Pulsar 4 series accomplishes these and more.

The E2T PulsarTM 4 Advanced measures two wavelengths for continuous and instantaneous measurement of refractory temperature (RT), gas temperature (GT), and integrated temperature (FF), reporting both readings simultaneously in one instrument. The E2T PulsarTM 4 is a single-channel option for directly replacing older Pulsar II models. The innovative Advanced Energy Smart FMA Flame Measurement Algorithm allows for accurate real-time flame-transparency compensation and correction. Applying the flame-transparency calculation with FMA removes the flame-transparency errors due to the gas (flame) temperature, providing the highest accuracy in process temperatures.

Certified by CSA Group and ATEX for use in hazardous locations, the E²T Pulsar 4 series uses sophisticated infrared technology to resolve all furnace temperature-measurement needs. Each unit is designed to measure two wavelengths for constant, instantaneous measurement of refractory temperature, gas temperature, and integrated temperature in the vessel – away from the heat, vibration, and corrosive gases. The custom mounting hardware enables visual inspection of combustion processes, refractory cure-out, and preventative maintenance while the vessel is entirely operational.
