Steel Alloys

Drop forgings in a variety of steel alloys are available from Ken Forging, a leading manufacturer of forged industrial hardware. Our products include many types of fasteners and hardware such as eyebolts, D-rings, and turnbuckle assemblies. We also have the capability to perform custom forging. The materials we most often use include various steel alloys, stainless, and carbon steels. We have over 45 years’ experience in the industry. Our extensive capabilities enable us to be your one-stop source for forged hardware. We  provide top high-quality products in unmatched turnaround times.

Steel alloys

The types of alloy steels we typically work with include 8620, 4140, F11, and F22. 4140 is a high tensile steel that offers resistance to abrasion and impacts.  Its tensile strength is 655 MPa (95000 psi.)

Carbon steel is also available in grades C1018 through C1045, including C1030 and C1035. Hardware made from carbon steel 1030 offers better strength than lower carbon grades. It is often used for applications such as machinery parts where high strength and hardness are required. Its melting point is 2750 F.

We also work with stainless steels 304 and 316. Grade 316 stainless steel provides resistance to corrosion, and excellent welding characteristics. Its tensile strength is 515 Mpa.

Steel alloy expertise

Our company was founded in 1970 when Richard A. Kovach opened up shop in his garage. Due to the quality of our products, prompt service, and understanding of what our customers require, we have grown to become one of the country’s leading manufacturers of forged products.

Steel alloy hardware manufacturing

We forge our products in our 250,000 sq. ft. facility in Northeast Ohio. We employ over 130 people, and have a 12,000 sq. ft. packaging and shipping area. We have the capability to make hardware with threading including UNC, UNF, ACME, and metric. Special heat treating processes and custom plating options are also available. We have a dedication to quality assurance, and offer complete traceability and lot control.
