Rubber expansion joints
Rubber expansion joints can be made from a range of materials to suit the application. For example, nitrile is often recommended for oilfield applications as it offers resistance to oil and solvents as well as good compression set and abrasion resistance. Another option is Viton, a high performance material that offers outstanding resistance to oils, solvents, ozone, oxidation, and high temperatures.
One example of our Viton expansion joints is the series 400LT. They are suitable for wet or dry services with temperatures up to 400 degrees F. In addition, they can withstand temperatures up to 750 degrees for a short duration in the event of an air heater failure. They are often used for applications such as baghouses, precipitators, stack breeching ducts, induced draft fans, wet or dry scrubbers, and air heater gas outlets. These expansion joints can be supplied in belt or flanged configurations and reinforced with knitted wire or woven fabric. For applications where ammonia slip is expected, we can supply additional FEP or PTFE gas barriers to improve chemical resistance.
