Repair expansion joints
Our expansion joints are often used for repair applications. Since these joints can be custom designed, they can be tailored to overcome specific challenges.
One example is when a solid fuel power plant was experiencing problems with an existing expansion joint on its wet scrubber inlet. The joint was tearing at the corners due to excessive movement of the duct system. To solve the issue, an extra thick Viton expansion joint with wire reinforcement was supplied. The replacement joint was also specifically designed to handle the large movements.
Another example is when these joints were used to solve one customer’s problem with its electro polishing process. The customer is a fencing manufacturer that uses electro polishing tanks to polish fence posts. The problem was the sulfuric acid solution used was dripping from wire cathodes between two tanks and corroding the drip trays, forcing early replacement and downtime. To solve the problem, a custom three-sided expansion joint was used to connect the two tanks.
