Industrial locking devices come in all shapes and sizes for different needs, and we manufacture virtually all of them at Capitol Industries Inc. One of the common features that customers want in their locks is removable and interchangeable cores, which is why we offer four kinds of removable core locks. This feature allows the user to change out the lock core in seconds, in order to create a completely different keying combination.

The removable core is ideal for applications that may need instantaneous re-keying in the case of key loss or theft, as well as in situations that require periodic re-keying for good business practice. In this way, Capitol removable core locks can save users a lot of time and expense. These locks offer the same high quality and security that customers have come to expect from our solutions, with the interchangeable cores as an added convenience.

Among the many benefits of the removable-core function: users can potentially access different kinds of furniture with one key, for extra convenience and security; re-keying becomes faster and easier; and most notably for office settings, users can change keys to office locking systems without having to remove the locks themselves.

We offer the following types of removable core locks for industrial customers:

• Removable-core cam lock. More than 80 per cent of our total product portfolio consists of cam locks, including a removable-core option. The standard model for metal panel boxes (15- to 24-gauge) is the 57800 series, which measures 22 millimetres (mm) in both diameter and barrel length and offers up to 200 combinations and five brass disc tumblers.
• Removable-core cam lock – small diameter. Three models with a dull black finish and similar options to those of the 57800 series, but each with a 17-mm diameter.
• Removable-core drawer lock. This option has three available cam styles and barrel lengths ranging from 22 to 32 mm, with a diameter of 22 mm. Multiple drawer cams available.
• Removable-core drawer lock – small diameter. Similar to the previous, but with a diameter of 17 mm.
