PTFE wire insulation offers excellent resistance to high temperatures, fire, abrasion, chemicals, solvents, moisture. Some examples of the various types of PTFE wire available include:
- High strength PTFE wire has a conductor made from stranded, silver-plated, high-strength copper alloy. The insulation is extruded PTFE. This wire meets the requirements of Milspec MIL-W-22759/22, and SAE AS22759/22. It is suitable for temperatures from – 90 degrees C up to 200 degrees C, and voltages up to 600 volts.
- Ultra-flexible microminiature PTFE hook-up wire has a conductor with a high strand count for superior flexibility. The conductor can be silver plated copper or bare copper with 50 AWG strand constructions. For insulation, this wire uses multiple layers of PTFE that offers non-flammable, weather resistant, and chemically inert characteristics.
- High voltage corona resistant PTFE wire is designed to retard and prevent corona penetration. The PTFE construction of this wire enables hi-voltage capabilities with a small size. Depending on the specific model, these wires can handle voltages up to 50 KV DC and offer a minimum life expectancy of 10,000 hours at the max voltage rating.
