Metal expansion joints

The different types of metal expansion joints available include single bellow, universal, and pressure balanced varieties.

• Single bellow joints are the simplest type. They comply with EJMA standards, are available with  flanged or welded pipe ends, and can compensate for pipe movement.
• Universal expansion joints are designed to offer greater lateral movement than single bellow styles.
• External pressurized expansion joints enable higher numbers of convolutions to be used without sacrificing bellows stability.
• Pressure balanced expansion joints can address pressure thrust while accommodating axial/lateral movements. This is possible due to the addition of equalizing bellows that cancel opposing forces induced by pressure.
