Medical Equipment

Polytron Devices, the power-supply division of Daburn Electronics & Cable, is a top source for power converters designed specifically for use in the medical field. Our DC-DC and AC-DC power converters have been approved for safe use in medical applications, including medical equipment in close proximity to hospital patients.

Polytron’s power electronics for the medical sector all comply with the strict standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) – specifically the requirements of IEC 60601-1, the main standard for the safety and performance of electrical medical equipment.

From X-rays to dental chairs

To meet the IEC’s requirements, all of our medical equipment has two means of patient protection (2 X MOPP). Our medical products have isolation voltages of 1,000 Volts above IEC 60601-1’s minimum requirements, and they also prevent electric shocks to user with low leakage currents.

Polytron medical power supplies are suitable for many applications, including the following:

  • Aesthetic machines;
  • Blood-pressure monitors, nebulizers and other home medical equipment;
  • Defibrillators;
  • Dental chairs;
  • Diagnostic and therapy equipment;
  • Hemodialysis devices;
  • Medical aesthetic devices;
  • Medical analyzers;
  • Medical devices;
  • Medical endoscope devices;
  • Pain-monitoring equipment;
  • Portable ventilators;
  • Surgical tools with lights, lasers, and/or video microscopes;
  • Three-dimensional laparoscopes; and
  • X-ray equipment.

Our medical power converters have many unique technical benefits. The DC-DC converters have single and dual output voltages with wattages of up to 15 Watts, while AC-DC converters are available with single, dual, and triple output voltages and can go as high as 450 Watts. In addition, each DC-DC converter has a power density that comes in a dense miniature package of 0.8″ by 1.25″, with a height of 0.4 inches; 100-Watt AC-DC converters are available in open frame packages of 2″ by 3″, while 150-Watt AC-DC converters are in 2″-by-4″ open frame packages.

Polytron medical power converters also have wide input voltage ranges. DC-DC converters each have a 4:1 input range with a Vdc input of 9-36 or 18-75, while an AC-DC converter has a universal input range of 80-264 VAC, which complies with national and international input voltages.

Medical approved AC-DC Linear Encapsulated Power Supplies are also available.

Polytron now offers two new series of DC/DC Converters,MTWA2 and MTWA4, available in SMD compact packaging, allowing more space for customer’s designs, and making it ideal for portable devices and applications.

An extra wide 5V input range of 4.5-12 Vdc is available, as well as: 9-18, 18-36 and 36-75Vdc.

Output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 24, +/-12 and +/-15Vdc are available.

Due to the new design and process optimization, these series are very cost effective.
