Mailbox Locks

Capitol Industries Inc. is Canada’s premier source of industrial locking devices and other security products. A popular category of products we have is mailbox locks. Capitol manufactures and supplies numerous models of these locks for various applications; the lineup includes locks specifically for post-office mailboxes, along with a handful of variations of letter-box locks. All of these locking systems are produced with the same level of quality and innovation that the Capitol team imbues into every one of its locks.

Locking mailboxes can prevent theft of both incoming and outgoing mail, which serves not only the mail-using public, but also postal workers who need to get their jobs done. Lockable mailboxes are common in apartment buildings and other residential complexes (like those with community mailboxes), and they also can serve a purpose in workplace environments where staff members handle sensitive, delicate, or secretive mail. Whatever the purpose, lockable mailboxes contribute to the security of the postal system.

We carry eight distinct models of mailbox locks at Capitol Industries. For example, we make post-office mailbox locks, as well as four designs of letter-box locks: standard letter-box locks, letter-box locks with ½ bolts, letter-box locks with long ears, and letter-box locks for couch boxes. Each of these letter-box lock models has a different design of the side ears, which are used for fastening the lock to the mailbox surface. In addition, we have two kinds of carded mail locks – spring clip and threaded barrel. Both of these mail locks come with a variety of metal components for differing applications.

In addition, we manufacture specialized cam locks for mailboxes. Cam locks make up roughly 80 per cent of Capitol’s current product line. Each consists of a latch that includes a cylinder and cam; the user inserts a key or tool to rotate the cam, which conducts the latching operation. As with all of our locking products, we make these locks in a vertically integrated operation that starts with design and proceeds to tool production, secondary machining, finishing, and assembly.
