Machine Tool Honing

We manufacture a variety of tools for use with honing machines. Our tools are precisely machined from the best alloys, chosen for their resistance to wear and shocks. The abrasive holders are made from tool steel and build to stringent tolerances, and then heat treated. Tools made by Century Machine Inc. provide superior durability, easy operation, and long lasting performance. We have the capability to adapt our tools for use with any style of machine, or we can custom design a tool head from scratch to suit your unique applications. Our experience, product selection, and technical knowledge set us apart from competitors.

Tool honing

The standard sizes for our tools range from 1 1/16 inches up to 26 inches.  Double lengths and larger sizes are available upon request. We grind our abrasive holders until they can achieve the maximum possible surface contact with the head. This helps to avoid tipping and excessive wear.

To drive the tool heads, our products utilize a quick connect involute spline drive. This design offers a fast and simple method for changing the tooling, as it is as easy as loosening and tightening a nut.  The spline drive also provides enhanced resistance to wear for applications involving high torque heavy removal. A traditional two key drive style is also available.

Tool honing expertise

We have many years of experience, as our company was founded in 1975. We manufacture our products using the best materials and processes. Century Machine is a member of the Association for Manufacturing Technology.  In addition to tools, we offer a range of abrasives, fluids, and machines that are ideal for every honing application.

Tool honing industries

We have customers from a broad array of industries ranging from aerospace to petrochemical. Our products are used in the manufacturing of parts such as hydraulic cylinders, engine liners for large equipment, and carbide barrels for injection molding.
