We carry several designs of linear brakes at Advanced Motion & Control Ltd. – specifically, clamping and braking elements manufactured by Zimmer Group. This German producer is a pioneer in the areas of clamping and braking on profile and round guides, having created more than 4,000 products out of decades of development and market experience. These elements routinely perform critical positioning, holding, and braking tasks while ensuring precision during cutting processes and boosting efficiency with short cycle times.
Zimmer’s line of clamping and braking elements for linear guides offer maximum fixing power with the smallest construction form. The user mounts them between two blocks on a rail to lock a load to the rail solidly. The primary advantage of this clamping action is that it does not take place on the rail’s bearing surface, which prevents damage to the rail at the clamp points.
These linear brakes and clamping elements have many practical industrial tasks. For example, they can be used to hold loads on the z-axis or other vertical applications. In addition, a spring-loaded model can clamp a load in a safe condition during a power failure, and they are perfect for positioning loads in multiple positions on a rail without affecting the bearing surface.
Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. offers the following clamping and braking elements by Zimmer:
- Pneumatic clamps and brakes. Useful for most rails, these are round shaft clamps and brakes with a compact design and high holding force.
- Electric clamps and brakes. These 24-volt, IP65-rated devices are electrically operated elements that are available with cabling or connectors.
- Hydraulic clamps and brakes. Available for rails of up to 125 millimetres, these elements have been designed for extremely heavy loads. Features include large contact sections and zero backlash.
With their secure hold, these linear brakes and clamps maximize safety while protecting the machines.
Other Zimmer products available from our inventory include manual linear clamps and industrial shock absorbers, available in multiple sizes and designs.
