Left hand thread bolts

Most fasteners have right-handed threading by default, but there are a variety of applications where left-handed threads are required. They include applications where the shaft rotation would loosen a right-handed fastener. For example, the lug nuts on the left side of some automobiles, the left pedal on a bicycle, the left-hand grinding wheel on a bench grinder, and the securing nut on circular saw blades.

Left hand threads are also used in conjunction with right-hand threads for fasteners such as turnbuckles, clamping studs, and couplings. For example, pipe couplings with both right- and left-handed threads are used on heating pipes that run through multiple rooms and that cannot be rotated to tighten or loosen the joint.

Our selection includes fully threaded rod with left hand thread. It is available in zinc plated low carbon steel, in sizes from 1/4-20 X 36 to 1-1/4-7 X 36. Also available are hex coupling nuts with left hand thread in zinc plated mild steel.  They are available in sizes from 3/8-16 to 3/4-10.
