Laser Scanners

Micro-Epsilon high-performance laser scanners are available from Hoskin Scientific Ltd. These laser line sensors rank among the top-performing profile sensors globally, in terms of accuracy and measuring rate. The available models are recommended for many applications, and they detect, measure, and evaluate profiles on various object surfaces. The scanCONTROL 30×0 models represent the peak of these laser scanners, although Hoskin also carries the gapCONTROL, surfaceCONTROL, and reflectCONTROL brands, plus relevant software and accessories.

Also known as laser line sensors or profile scanners, Micro-Epsilon laser scanners come in different classes to comply with varying user needs – Compact, Highspeed, Smart, and gapCONTROL. Users can choose from among three perfectly matched product series of these sensors too. The scanCONTROL SMART and gapCONTROL models have integrated intelligence in their sensor heads, which solves numerous measurement applications. These particular units do not need external controllers. Models for the customer’s own programming can be acquired for integrators.

These sensors offer various possibilities for data transmission and can be easily integrated into existing user software, through either the available SDKs or the GigE Vision Standard that all scanCONTROL sensors meet (integration into image-processing software). The sensors within the scanCONTROL SMART and gapCONTROL classes can transfer the measured values to control systems directly, using a specific interface – Ethernet, RS422, Analog or digital, or Profinet, Ethernet/IP, or EtherCAT.

ScanCONTROL 30×0 laser scanners provide two-dimensional profile data with up to 7.37 million points per second, and their profile frequency of up to ten kilohertz allows exact profile measurements in dynamic processes. The high-resolution sensor matrix offers a resolution of 2,048 points, with an ultimate point distance of merely 12 micrometres; as a result, the scanner can reliably detect even the finest of details. Other specifications of these instruments from Hoskin:

  • measuring range up to 29 centimetres on the x-axis and up to 30 centimetres on the z-axis
  • line linearity from 1½ micrometres on the z-axis
  • measurement speed up to ten kilohertz
  • measuring rate up to 7,372,800 points per second
  • selectable operating modes
  • optional blue laser
