Grease fittings

Grease fittings are used to feed lubricant into a bearing using a grease gun. These threaded fittings are installed permanently and provide a nipple connection for grease guns. The grease fitting uses a bearing ball and retaining spring to act as a valve that opens when a grease gun supplies pressure. When in the closed position, the ball keeps out dirt and prevents grease from escaping.

Typically, grease fittings are made from steel with zinc plating, stainless steel, or brass. This type of bearing and lubrication setup offers a number of advantages including cost-effectiveness, simplicity, and long life.

Industries served

Grease fittings are commonly used on automobiles and a variety of industrial, agricultural, and mining equipment. These fittings are also often used in marine engines, because when greases is pumped into the fitting it expels moisture that would cause corrosion.
