Gravity hinges are a solution to loss of energy from keeping doors opened for too long. This is particularly useful for laboratories, cold storage, or food-warming units to preserve biological specimens and keep food fresh. Sugatsune gravity hinges offer additional features for ease of use.

The HG-JG150 soft-closing gravity hinge is sold as a set, including a dampening and self-closing hinge. It has a sturdy construction, as evidenced by 50,000 passed open/close private cycle tests. With operating temperature of 0-40 degrees Celsius, it may be used in industrial environments, such as food-production facilities, controlled-temperature unit manufacturing, or where medical and diagnostic equipment are present.

Refrigerators tend to have large doors that may be cumbersome and cause shaking of unit upon closure – these hinges remove this problem. These gravity hinges offer a full 180-degree opening, with soft and self-closing activated 65 degrees onward. To adjust the closing speed of the door, loosen the speed-adjustment screw at the top of the soft-closing hinge, then move it towards the appropriate side to slow or quicken and fasten securely. Adjust depending on weight of door and desired speed for a safe closing to prevent pinching of fingers. The recommended load capacity for the hinge set is 10~20 kg (22~44 lbs.).

The lift-off feature of the hinges allows for the removal and hanging of the door in the opened position, at 90 degrees. The hinge covers hide all screw heads and have an angled surface to prevent dust and particle accumulation. When installing, the hinges’ adjustment plates allow for +/- 3-mm depth and horizontal door-position adjustments.

The GH-G02 and GH-G07 gravity hinges are ideal for environments with glass doors, such as wine cellars or showers. They were designed to be used with glass doors of eight-to-12-mm thickness. Given their stainless steel material, which is anti-corrosive, these hinges may be used in areas where water is used, such as residential or commercial spaces containing shower booths. With a mirror finish, these hinges have a sleek appearance. The hinges allow for self-closing between 0-70 degrees, while the self-opening occurs between 70-160 degrees. The GH-G02 frame hinge leaf contains five screw holes, while the frame hinge leaf of the GH-G07 is narrower and contains three screw holes. The load capacity for two hinges is 45 kg (99 lbs.) and the one for three hinges is 50 kg (110 lbs.).
