Rapid Gear can provide engineering services for gearboxes and associated machinery. We have experienced craftsmen who perform everything from design to reverse-engineering. These capabilities enable us to develop custom solutions as well as redesign existing equipment. Our in-house machine shop is outfitted with a wide range of equipment and we also offer on-site field service with our mobile shop. Rapid Gear can take on projects ranging from single units to production runs. We have been in business since 1976 and have experience with machining, gearing, and power transmission services for a broad range of industries.
Engineering services
When performing custom machining and gear cutting services, our experience in engineering helps us meet customers’ unique requirements. We begin the process by assessing the project and communicating with the customer to gain a solid understanding of the problem. Then we draw on our engineering capabilities to find the best solution. To produce these custom-designed solutions, we use C.N.C lathes, vertical boring mills, gear grinding machines, and slotting machines.
Our reverse-engineering services also help customers with a number of challenges. For example, when equipment is in need of overhaul but replacement parts and manufacturing drawings are not available. This may be due to the unit being discontinued, the OEM going out of business, or the only parts available come from overseas with long delivery times. Our engineering capabilities allow us to create replacements that will meet or exceed the original specifications, so we can help when existing equipment is in need of improvements.

Rapid Gear has more than 40 years of machining experience. We make ongoing investments in the most advanced equipment, so we have a fully-equipped machine shop that includes high precision CNC machines. It is staffed by highly experienced operators. Our products are built to ISO and AGMA quality control regulations.
