Encoders

No matter what type of encoder you’re looking for, Durham Instruments Inc. has the product for you. With a wide selection of sensors designed with specific applications, you are sure to find an option that fits your need when you shop with us. Our products function in harsh temperatures and conditions, while offering adaptability and functionality in all applications.

Two varieties available

Durham Instruments sells magnetic and optical encoders for a wide range of applications and functions.

Our magnetic encoders from Leine & Linde includes the 2000-series. Designed for situations where a motor’s main shaft is too big for an optical encoder, this magnetic version is made of aluminium and has a sensing accuracy within 360 degrees at 50 kHz. The ED-17 is also designed to work with shafts, using a digital SSI interface to relay data while working at temperatures up to 85 degrees Celsius. Its counterpart, the ED-18, provides versatile service as either an interface device or a sensor, while other options include feedback sensors (ED-19, ED-20), potentiometers (ED-21) and incremental linear encoders (ED32i).

We also carry optical encoders from Electro Sensors, which allow for more accurate speed and rotation measurements. The 280 Quad rotary shaft encoder works with tachometers for measurements on low-speed rotary shafts. Other slow speed options include the 380 STD rotary shaft encoder and the 470 heavy-duty encoder. The 567 and 569 hollow shaft absolute encoders offer versatile and durable performance, working in many industries and standing up to harsh conditions. They also provide accuracy within 1/2 LSB.
