Rapid Gear offers full service custom machining. These services are performed by experienced machinists using the most advanced equipment. For instance, our machining department is outfitted with C.N.C. machines that provide versatile capabilities and high precision results. Our company specializes in gear cutting, but can also produce a wide variety of custom components.  We have been designing and building gears, gear boxes, and special purpose machinery for over 40 years. Rapid Gear is ISO 9001:2008 certified, and has been a member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association since 1988.

Full service machining capabilities

Our equipment offers large capacities and versatile capabilities. They include turning lathes with maximum capacities up to 36 inches in diameter and 156 inches long. We also use C.N.C. lathes that can accommodate up to 19-inch diameters and 59-inch lengths. Our vertical boring mills have capacities up to 129 inches in diameter and 75 inches in height. We also have slotting capabilities up to 108-inch diameters and 25-inch heights, as well as lifting capabilities up to 30 tons. 

Our machining department also has extensive gear cutting capabilities. For example, we can produce spur, double helical, and sprocket gears with pitch diameters up to 197 inches. We have gear grinding machines with capacities up to 50-inch diameters and 25-inch strokes.

Machining process

All of our jobs are subject to the highest standards for quality control, from start to finish. At the beginning of the process, we will make sure we have a solid understanding of the problem and begin working to find the best solution. We can perform design, engineering, and reverse engineering.

Once a solution is found, it is machined in our world-class manufacturing facilities spanning over 40,000 square feet. Then we carefully package and ship the order to customers’ specifications.  Our location provides convenient access to highways, airports, and seaports.
