Custom Honing

We can custom design and manufacture tools for precision honing applications. Only the best alloys are used in the construction of our tooling. We carefully select the materials for their wear and shock resistance. We use tool steel to make our abrasive holders, and they are built to exacting specifications. Often, a completely custom design is not required, because we can adjust and adapt our standard products for use in any type of machine or application. Century Machine Inc. is able to provide a variety of tooling that offers long life, high performance and ease of use.

Custom honing

The typical sizes for our honing tools vary from as low as 1 1/16" to as high as 26", and we can provide even higher sizes and double lengths when required. Custom designed tool heads can be provided to accommodate any application. We heat treat our tooling components to provided added durability, and we grind our abrasive holders until maximum surface contact with the tool head is achieved. This helps to avoid tipping and prevent excessive wear.

Our tools are easy to use and will save you time. The tool heads are usually driven via a quick connect spline drive, which makes changing the tooling as quick and simple as loosening and tightening a nut. This drive style also features superior wear resistance for high torque heavy removal applications. When preferred, we can offer traditional two key drives as well.

Custom honing expertise

While helping our customers find solutions for their most unique applications, we draw on our more than four decades’ experience. We have developed a comprehensive selection of honing machines, tools, abrasives, and fluid for lubrication and cooling.

Custom honing industries

Thanks to our custom capabilities and versatile equipment, our customer base spans many different industries. Our products are used for the precision honing of components including engine liners, aircraft landing gear, natural gas flow tubes, and injection molding carbide barrels.
