Belt conveyor selection

Roller bed

Conveyors that use belts over rollers offer low friction, which allows a smaller drive motor to convey the load. These conveyors are available with troughed roller beds that are ideal for scrap handling or recycling applications. Alternatively, medium duty roller beds are available. Which are designed for carrying heavier loads. They are often used in assembly inspection, and packing applications. The overall frame widths for these conveyors range from 16 inches up to 60 inches. They are capable of conveying a maximum load of 225 pounds per linear foot.

Slider bed

Conveyors that use a belt over a slider bed are an economical choice for shorter runs. That is because slider beds cost less than rollers, but require a larger drive motor. These conveyors are available in a range of types including heavy duty, curved, and gapper. Gapper conveyors are ideal for feeding product into equipment where gaps  between cartons are required, such as saw tooth merges, sorters, or combiners.

Plastic belt

Conveyors with plastic belting are used for washdown, accumulation, and heavy load applications. Plastic belting eliminates belt slippage and mistracking thanks to its positive drive system. The standard widths available for plastic belts range from 8 to 38 inches. Heavy duty models plastic belt conveyors are available with frame widths up to 76 inches.
