Protection Tube materials include ceramic, metal, silicon carbide, metal ceramic, sialon, cast iron and Hexoloy.

Protection Tubes are used to protect sensors, usually
thermocouples, against contaminating atmospheres
and/or mechanical damage. Closed at one end, they
usually incorporate some means by which the tube, sensor
and connection head are assembled and mounted into
the process. The Protection Tube material is selected
on the basis of the environment to which the sensor
assembly will be subjected. The tables included in this
Product Reference Guide lists materials commonly used
for various applications.
