self-lubricating chain

Tsubaki's Lambda chain is a self-lubricating option.

Tsubaki of Canada has offered innovative chain solutions for decades, expanding on a 100-year tradition. In 1988, the manufacturerʼs parent company introduced the Lambda self-lubricating chain. This drive chain lasts 14 times longer than any standard non-lubricated chain, partly because of its metal oil-impregnated sintered bushing. The Lambda solution continues satisfying customers more than three decades later with more advanced material, performance, and manufacturing technology.

Minimal noise, no lubrication time

One primary benefit of the Lambda drive chain is that it requires no additional lubrication. It is also easy to use and can engage with standard single sprockets, even though its width is more than that of a standard chain. Furthermore, the Lambda solution can operate in a wide range of temperatures, from minus ten to 150 degrees Celsius.

A self-lubricating chain solves several common issues. First, it eliminates the time-consuming process of manual lubrication, so employees can focus on other tasks and raise productivity. The self-lubrication function works in all locations, including areas where chains are too high or hard to reach – a situation that often results in premature wear elongation with standard chains.

Another common issue with typical chains is difficulty in maintaining proper lubricated conditions. In non-uniform conveyor applications, right- and left-side chains often wear and elongate differently, thus requiring lubricant to penetrate between outer plates, inner plates, and rollers. With Tsubaki Lambda chains, sintered bushes supply oil to maintain the lubricated state. In addition, manual chain lubrication attracts dust and debris, and lubricant can drip on the floor, but the Lambda self-lubricating chain can add to a cleaner working environment.

The Lambda drive chain also eliminates contamination in food-processing applications. With standard chains, lubricant can potentially come into contact with food products. As the Lambda uses its own NSF H1-certified lube, such contamination does not occur. Finally, by maintaining its lubricated state consistently, the Lambda chain minimizes noise – as opposed to standard chains that can make loud, grating noise during production when they run dry.

The Tsubaki Lambda chain lives up to its longtime reputation in all these ways.
