RAF screws are available from Gould Fasteners.

RAF Electronic Hardware is a leading supplier of electronic hardware components, serving a variety of industries, from the computer, telecommunications, and medical sectors to the entertainment and military/aerospace industries. The company’s product line includes jack screws, thumb screws, and precision shoulder screws, available in American standard and metric dimensions, as well as a variety of materials, to suit any application.

Jack screws

RAF’s standard 3/16-inch hex jack screws are ideal for securing D-type cable connectors in computer and other electronic equipment, or for drawing two connector halves together to keep them mated. They are available in steel, with a zinc plate per ASTM-B-633, and with thread lengths of 3/16 to ¾ inches. The body diameter is 3/16 inches, with a body length of 3/16 inches and 4-40 threads. RAF jack screws come individually or as a set, with two flat washers, one lock washer, and one nut. They meet all key industry specifications and can be customized for specific applications.

Thumb screws and nuts

The company’s thumb screws add the finishing touch to front panels or other equipment, but can be used internally, too. With an easy-to-grip diamond knurl head, these screws enable no-tool assembly and disassembly for many applications. They are available in a variety of materials and finishes — from brass and steel, to stainless steel, aluminum and more — to complement any design. In fact, RAF offers more than 40 different metallic finishes to suit any need. The thumb screws are available in washer face, plain and push styles, with threads ranging from 4-40 to 1/4-20, lengths from 1/2 to 2-½ inches, and head diameters from 3/16 to ½ inch. Custom lengths are also available.

Precision shoulder screws

Shoulder screws are used as a precision spacer and bearing surface for a variety of applications. They feature a long, cylindrical midsection, which is wider than the screw section, but narrower than the head. When screwed into a surface, the shoulder section remains above the hole, which allows for the rotation of attached parts like pulleys, gears, mechanical assemblies and rolling wheels. They can also be used to attach stripper plates for high torque fastening applications in environments with limited clearance. The company’s shoulder screws are available in brass, steel, and stainless steel. They come in shoulder lengths from 0.1250 to 1.500 inches, shoulder diameters from 0.1245 to 0.4995 inches, and head diameters from 1/4 to ⅝ inches. Custom lengths are also possible.
